How to light it
- Place a sod on the slate burner or another heat-proof surface.
- Light the tip until it glows.
- Gently blow out the flame and let it smoulder.

I am a sucker for a tiny house, then to have one that smoke comes out the chimney, how could I refuse? The cottage arrived quickly, and safely, and I tore into the packaging and lit the first turf before I'd recycled the boxes! The smoke was gorgeous, but not enough to set off the smoke alarm, thank goodness. The scent is subtle and not over powering. An indulgent gift for yourself or those you love

This is so reminiscent of the turf fire my parents would have had when I was young and then my own open fires later in my life. I’ve now stopped using an open fire but so missed that familiar smell, so I was delighted when I found this. I love it and everyone who comes into my home loves it too. No messy emptying ash pans or carrying baskets of turf through the house but can still enjoy that smell.

Great atmosphere
Had high hopes but this isn't incense? It's actual turf and it won't burn in an incense holder. It cannot be lit on fire and stay on fire the way incense would. Very disappointing.
Hi Gina, sorry you had issues with your order. It's true we use actual peat in the making of our Incense but it has been processed (ground, filtered and mixed) to make it easy to light and smoulder. It has been made as a replica in shape to that of a Turf sod so no it won't fit an incense stick holder, which is why we have a burning slate included in our original sets. If you encountered an issue with burning, the pieces could have possibly become damp, or if you feel there is a fault with them please contact us for a replacement. Ian
I have tried a few and this is by far my favourite!
This incense reminds me of my childhood. We used coal to heat our farmhouse and the turf reminds me of coal mixed with dried leaves and grass. Interesting and unique as an incense. Would be a great fall/ winter incense as well as now, in spring. Thank you for the comforting experience. The smell did certainly take me back in time in my memory.

With our turf incense sods placed on the Bangor Blue Slate burner and ignited, you will soon be transported back to the old Irish cottages, where warmth and cooking of food were provided by the open fire and sods of turf burning within. This turf incense has been specially designed to be easy to ignite with a lasting smoulder that will fill the room with the distinctive smell of an open turf fire.
