1. Fire risk - A candle flame can reach temperatures of 1,000°C (1,800°F). Curtains, paper, furniture, or even hair can ignite quickly if placed too close. Fires started by candles often spread fast, because they begin on flammable surfaces such as wooden tables, shelves, or bedding.

2. Burns and injuries - Tins and glass containers absorb heat. Touching a burning or recently extinguished candle container can cause skin burns, particularly with tin candles which can reach higher external temperatures.

General Candle Safety Rules Everyone Should Follow

 

🔥 1. Never leave a candle unattended

If you walk away or fall asleep, extinguish the candle first. Most candle-related fires happen when people leave candles burning while distracted or sleeping.

Fans, open windows, and air vents can cause a candle to flicker, creating uneven burning or soot. Drafts also increase the chance of nearby objects catching fire.

Stop use when ¼–½ inch (6–12 mm) of wax remains.
